What if we don't capture good images?

We'll bring you back for a second try!

Every baby and every pregnancy is unique. Sometimes the baby faces mom's back, the fluid isn't clear, or little hands and feet cover their face. If your baby doesn't cooperate, we'll invite you back for one more session at no additional cost within two weeks of your original appointment.

While we can't guarantee full-face images, we'll do everything we can to get them. We use gentle techniques to encourage the baby to roll over or move their hands away from their face. The main factors are the baby's position, which way they're facing, the amount and clarity of fluid, and whether they decide to hide.

What if we can't see the gender?

We'll have you back as soon as the next morning!

Sometimes a baby crosses their legs, has the cord between their legs, or curls up in a way that hides their gender. If that happens, we'll take another look as early as the next day so you can get a clear answer at no additional cost.

Luxe Baby Ultrasound offers one free rescan within 14 days of your original appointment when baby won't cooperate. Please read these policies before booking your rescan. A rescan will not be performed without a signed acceptance of these policies, which are also outlined in our new client form.

• One rescan within 14 days. You are offered one rescan appointment within 14 days of your original appointment, scheduled at your convenience.
• A second rescan is not guaranteed. In extreme cases where the baby is continually stubborn, a second rescan may be offered at our discretion.
• Rescans are shorter. A rescan is not a do-over of your full original session. It lasts long enough to determine gender or capture 4D/HD images of your baby.
• No rescans after 35 weeks. After 35 weeks, baby may have turned toward the spine in preparation for birth, and their face may no longer be visible.

• Stay well hydrated. Hydration is important for image quality. Increasing fluids for baby can take 5–10 days, so start early.
• Eat or drink something sweet. Have a snack and/or a cold sugary drink, such as a smoothie or milkshake, 15–20 minutes before your rescan to help keep baby from being overly sleepy.
• On a restrictive diet? Ice water before and during your appointment can help keep baby awake and moving.

Please note: It is impossible to guarantee baby's cooperation or that full-face images will be captured at any appointment. We can't make baby move; we can only encourage them to. Amniotic fluid levels, the baby's position, placenta placement, and whether the baby is head down or breech can all affect image quality. We make every effort to capture the best images of your little one possible.

• Baby's position. Some babies don't move no matter how much time they are given. Some cover their faces or lie in positions that make the face impossible to see, including facing toward mom's spine. No baby can be forced to move.
• Placenta placement. Placenta placement and baby's body position can't be controlled and can affect image quality and how visible the baby's features are.
• Images aren't guaranteed. We can't guarantee images or image quality, but Luxe Baby Ultrasound will do everything possible to get the best images of your baby.
• Gender needs a clear view. An accurate gender determination requires a clear view around the baby and their legs. It isn't possible if the cord is over or through the legs, blocking the view. We would never want to give you the wrong determination so ensuring we have a clear view and multiple views is essential.

• Sessions are non-refundable, and chargebacks are not accepted.
• If you are unavailable for a rescan within 14 days of your original scan, no refund will be given.
